Longer teeth or exposed tooth roots not only are less attractive, but they can also increase your sensitivity to heat, cold or sweets. Also, there is an increased risk of decay on the exposed root area.  In some cases, gum tissue can be placed in these areas, covering and protecting the exposed root.

Procedure: The periodontist administers a local anesthetic, gently prepares the area and then places a gum tissue graft.
