Periodontal Maintenance Cleanings

We have two dental hygienists on our staff to assist you in maintaining oral health and hygiene.  Regularly scheduled periodontal cleanings are critical to maintaining oral health.  Whether you are presently in good oral health or have received any treatment for periodontal disease, this ongoing phase of care will allow us to assess your oral health and prevent or treat any periodontal condition.

During a supportive periodontal cleaning, the doctor and the dental hygienist thoroughly examine your mouth.  Any new calculus and bacterial plaque formations are carefully and gently removed.  Antimicrobial rinses and fluorides may be applied as well as localized delivery of antibiotics as needed. We will assist you with developing successful supportive home care techniques and provide you with any of the materials you need for success at no additional charge. (There may be a fee associated with prescription gels or rinses)
Supportive periodontal cleanings are generally non-invasive and comfortable.  Although they do not require local anesthesia, we will do everything we can to make the experience comfortable and relaxing.

Periodontal disease is a chronic disease like diabetes and heart disease.  Without careful, ongoing evaluation and supportive treatment, the active infection will return.  If you have dental implants, it is equally important to maintain regular maintenance appointments to insure optimum health and stability of the dental implants.
